Have you seen the tag all over social media lately where you name the 10 albums that changed your life? I wasn’t really thinking about doing it until I saw so much great music shared by my friends via that tag.
So without further ado and in no particular order…Read More »
I went on a big outing! When I was down in the Phoenix area last month, it was my goal to get out for some type of excursion. My mom and I chose the Desert Botanical Gardens, because we love the desert and they stated that it’s accessible. Please be prepared for a huge rant and a load of ideas…Read More »
‘Tis the season here in Calgary, there is a snowfall warning in effect to the tune of 12 cm! So it will be a white Christmas here…unless a giant chinook happens. In Alberta, we get something called chinook winds, which are huge systems that bring warmer weather quickly via wind and pressure changes. According to Wiki, the largest temperature change ever recorded in 24 hours due to a chinook was in Loma, Montana, where it went from -48°C to +9°C. Fifty seven degrees, can you imagine?! Or when variations of 50°C were observed in Black Hills in 1943…in MINUTES. Seriously. (Links at the bottom.) Read More »
Everyone has an inner voice, and thought process. From what I gather, this is a messy place for many people. I am one of those. My inner voice has always been very hard to silence, and is more negative than positive. As I say often, it is what it is. I have learned methods over the years to control and manage it, stopping negative thoughts as or before they happen, and making my mind a more peaceful place. I saw it daily in my grandmother, exacerbated by the dementia at the end of her life. I’m not sure she was lucky enough to develop methods that worked at keeping the negative and self-doubting side balanced. As a result, I don’t take it for granted that I have managed to find my own methods.
I went to a lovely wedding on Sunday, and I felt very lucky to be able to attend. I used a wheelchair, and it made the 5 hours (I know, right?!) I spent there possible. The ceremony was beautiful, between two people who really love and complete each other. It was one of my favourite venues, and had a really neat vibe.
The Inner Process really got to me on Sunday…Read More »
Next week I am headed up to North Battleford, Saskatchewan, to put my grandparent’s ashes in the ground. They passed away about eight years ago, but we haven’t been up there for perhaps 24 years? My whole family is going, and we are meeting some other relatives there as well. Jack Pickel will be buried with his wife, Audrey nee Boor, as well as his sister, Tyne, in the family plot in the North Battleford graveyard.
The Pickels have a rich history in North Battleford, where my great grandfather Allan Pickel was an MP and general businessman…Read More »
